  • Most paper comes from tree pulp, so the impact of paper bag production on forests is enormous. As a matter of fact, in 1999, 14 million trees were cut to produce the 10 billion paper grocery bags used by Americans that year.

Data released by the United States Environmental Protection Agency shows that somewhere between 500 billion and a trillion platic bags are consumed worldwide each year (National Geographic News September 2, 2003).

Plastic bags account for over 10 percent of the debris washed up on the U.S. coastline (National Marine Debris Monitoring Program).

We’re all well-aware that saying “no” to disposables is the best way to reduce waste, but did you know that choosing reusable products can also save you money? Every paper lunch bag, plastic water bottle and zip-top plastic bag we toss out may as well be cash in the garbage can.

I truly hope that you are more informed regarding the environmental impact and the solutions.  By using recyclable bags, you actively contribute to solving the problem by using less plastic bags.
